This bout between lightweights saw the veteran Ricky “Rickster” Burns of Scotland take on Scott “Scotty” Cardle of Lancashire, UK. Scott Cardle won the British lightweight title in 2015 and went into the bout with 23 wins 2 losses 1 draw with 7 wins coming by way of knockout. Burns established his dominance early leaving Cardle bleeding after the first round. The referee stopped the bout in the 3rd round after Burns scored a knockdown that Cardle could not recover.

Co-main Event

Another bout between lightweights for a shot at a World title saw Anthony “Million Dollar” Crolla of Lancashire take on Daud Yordan of Indonesia. Former WBA titleholder Anthony Crolla entered the bout with a record of 33 wins 6 losses 3 draws with 13 wins coming by way of knockout. Former IBO champion and current Asia-Pacific champion Daud Yordan entered the bout with a record of 38 wins 3 losses with 26 wins coming by knockout. This bout was closely contested and entertaining for those watching. All 3 judges scored the bout 116-112 in favor of Anthony Crolla.

Main Event

In the main event Oleksandr Usyk defended his undisputed cruiserweight championship against Tony “Bomber” Bellew. The bout began at a fast pace with both fighters trading shots in closely contested rounds. In round 6 the course of the fight began to change with Usyk landing more shots and Bellew slowing down. The fight was stopped in the 8th round after Usyk scored a devastating knockdown. At the time of the stoppage 2 judges had Bellew in the lead.

    My respects to Bellew. He was gracious in his defeat. He paid tribute to the winner. It was a sporting way to go.
