Alvarez/Fielding Post Fight Breakdown

Fight 1

This entertaining bout featured female lightweight title action between undefeated Katie Taylor from Ireland and undefeated Eva Wahlstrom from Finland for the IBF and WBA female lightweight championships. Katie Taylor pressured Wahlstrom the majority of the fight and landed twice as many punches to win a unanimous decision.

Fight 2

This bout saw feather-weight action between 2017 Prospect of the year 20 year old Ryan Garcia teammate of Canelo Alvarez from Golden Boy Promotion and 30 year Braulio Rodriguez from Dominican Republic. Garcia came out aggressive landing power shot combinations and scored a big knocked in the first round. Following the knock down Rodriguez tried to syke Garcia out by taunting and playing mind games but Garcia continued to apply pressure and walk him down with power shots. In round 5 Garcia scored another knock down and the referee completed the 10 the count.

Fight 3

This bout saw welterweight action between two skilled boxers Sadam “World Kid” Ali and Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera. Ali controlled majority of the bout with Herrera having moments throughout leading to a unanimous decision for Ali.

Co-Main

The co-main event saw super featherweight world title action between defending IBF champion Tevin “American Idol” Farmer and Francisco Fonseca. This bout was highly competitive and entertaining with both fighters taking turns trading and landing punches round by round. Farmer out landed Fonseca by 50 punches by compubox calculation and retained his title by unanimous decision.

Main Event

The main event between Rocky Fielding and Canelo Alvarez for the WBA Super middle-weight title began with Fielding looking to establish his jab and Alvarez coming forward and applying pressure. Alvarez dominated the bout knocking Fielding down 4 times with body shots leading to a stoppage by the referee in round number 3.
